Needless to say, when Jane was in the throws of wedding planning, there was a lot going on. A lot of decisions to be made, vendors to be sourced and exciting purchases to be made. With all of this on her plate, there wasn't a lot of brain space - or excitement - being dedicated to the search for the perfect wedding band. Having been presented with her dream engagement ring, the plain wedding band she wanted felt, well, boring in comparison to the statement rock.

When Jane and her husband-to-be walked in to Micheli, we noticed that they lacked excitement. But after trying on a few rings with an attitude of 'this will do'... Jane mentioned that she has a question that was 'probably stupid'. She asked if we ever melted down gold from old jewellery to make a new ring. To cut a long story short, Jane's demeanour entirely changed as we explained to her that yes, because we make all of our jewellery in-house, this is definitely something we can do, depending on the quality of the piece she had in mind.

In our next appointment, Jane presented us with the bangle she hoped would become her wedding ring and explained that it was incredibly special to her, but that she just didn't wear a bangle often; that she would love to wear the essence of the piece every day. We were delighted to advise Jane that the gold from her bangle could, if treated with care, become the wedding ring she would really treasure. with so much meaning.

Melting down the gold was a delicate process, ensuring the right temperature was reached and the gold was rolled with precision to avoid cracking and inclusions, but expert jeweller Cal was the right man for the job and after just one day, Jane's dream ring had come to life.
