Garnet .. A Gemstone that Comes in a Variety Of Colours!
Garnets have a long history in jewellery, as far back as the ancient Egyptians garnets adorned the necks of pharaohs, even being buried with them in tomb’s to be taken into the afterlife. In ancient Rome signet rings featuring carved garnets were used to impress wax seals on documents. Red garnets have been favoured by nobility throughout the ages and were often used in Victorian era jewellery.
Garnets range from 6.5-7.5 on the MOH’s scale of hardness and their toughness means they are suitable for most jewellery, though hard knocks should be avoided. Visit us in store or online to view the range of garnets we have in stock, or make a time to discuss your own special garnet piece.
