Garnet .. A Gemstone that Comes in a Variety Of Colours!

Garnets refer to a group of related gemstones that are available in almost any colour. Red is the most widely known, but these beauties can also be found in green, orange, purplish red and sometimes even blue! Not all of these colours are as plentiful as red, with green tsavorite garnets being quite rare and sought after.



Garnets have a long history in jewellery, as far back as the ancient Egyptians garnets adorned the necks of pharaohs, even being buried with them in tomb’s to be taken into the afterlife. In ancient Rome signet rings featuring carved garnets were used to impress wax seals on documents. Red garnets have been favoured by nobility throughout the ages and were often used in Victorian era jewellery.
